7,000 households and businesses still without power following Storm Eunice

ESB repair crews have been working through the night to restore power to more than 70,000 users after their electricity was cut during Storm Eunice.

Around 7,000 households and businesses are without supply this morning.

Power is not expected to be restored to some ESB customers in Cork, Kerry, and Enniscorthy in Co Wexford until later today because of the extent of damage to power lines in these areas.

The clean up is continuing across the country in the aftermath of Storm Eunice.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning in place for counties Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, and Cavan, which comes into effect at 6 pm and will be in effect until the same time tomorrow.

The forecaster has warned that persistent and heavy rain may lead to localised flooding in places.
