Domino’s Pizza has announced plans to hire an additional 5,000 employees across the UK and Ireland in the coming months.
The pizza giant, listed on the London Stock Exchange, is seeking delivery drivers, in-store staff, and pizza makers to bolster its workforce of 35,000 as it prepares for its peak trading season.
The recruitment drive follows a dip in orders during the first half of 2024, which Domino’s attributed to a “slow start” to the year.
However, the company noted signs of recovery in customer confidence by August, with the expectation that improved pricing strategies will lead to stronger sales.
Domino’s operates 1,344 stores across the UK and Ireland and has reported that food and energy costs have begun to decrease. However, the company also faces rising operational expenses due to an increase in the national living wage.
Despite these challenges, Domino’s anticipates a surge in demand during the latter part of the year, which is typically its busiest period. The additional staff will help meet this increased demand as the company positions itself for a strong close to 2024.
