Elderly man hit by van in Dublin dies three weeks after horror crash; Gardaí appeal for witnesses

An elderly man who was hit by a van in Dublin last month has died in hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a fatal road traffic collision in Dublin on January 19, after which an elderly man lost his life.

The crash, involving a van and a pedestrian, occurred at approximately 6:50 am on Wednesday, January 19, on the North Circular Road between Phibsborough Road and Berkeley Road in Dublin 7.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he later passed away on Friday, February 11. The driver of the van was uninjured.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai at Mountjoy are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were traveling along the North Circular Road between Phibsborough Road and Berkeley Road between 6.40 am and 7.15 am on Wednesday, January 19 are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
