A man has thrown egg towards French President Emmanuel Macron during his attendance at an international food trade fair. The incident took place in the city of Lyon on Monday and the video footage of the man throwing egg is now widely circulated on social media.
The video shows Mr. Macron walking through the crowd and suddenly an egg is thrown on his shoulder. The egg did not break and the bodyguards reacted immediately by securing the President.
The video also shows a man being taken away from the scene, believed to be the one threw the egg. No further details are available including the motivation.
There are reports that Mr. Macron said the media “If he has something to tell me, then he can come.”
According to a journalist for French publication Lyon Mag, who was at the scene, a young man threw the egg but did not hear him shout anything. She has also shared the video of the incident on her Twitter page.
Macron had a similar experience in 2017 while he was a presidential candidate and an egg cracked on his head while campaigning trail. In this June Mr. Macron was slapped in the face by a man while a visit to a community in south-eastern part of the country.
