Irish professor receives Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honours by Indian government

Irish professor receives Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the Republic of India. The government of India honored Mr. Rutger Kortenhorst, Head of Sanskrit at John Scottus Senior school in Dublin with Padma Shri along with other recipients.

Mr. Rutger Kortenhorst had been mentioned by PM Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann ki baat’ programme last year.

Indian Embassy in Ireland congratulated Mr. Rutger Kortenhorst with a Facebook post shared on their page.

‘Mr. Rutger has been conferred this award in Literature and Education category acknowledging his contribution in propagating Sanskrit.’ said the post.
