Man stabbed to death in Finglas named

A man who was stabbed to death in Finglas in Dublin last night has been named locally as 39-year-old Brian Hogan.

Just after 7 o’clock last night, Mr. Hogan, a local resident, was discovered seriously hurt in the front garden of a home on Collins Place in Finglas.

Mr. Hogan was declared dead a short while after the paramedics arrived and attempted resuscitation.

Garda believes that the incident took place after a fight at the house spilled over into the garden. Along with Mr. Hogan, a woman he knows was hurt.

The man’s body has been removed from the scene for a post-mortem examination.

For a forensic investigation, the area around the house and garden has been sealed off.

Door-to-door enquires have been made by officers from Finglas Garda Station, where a murder investigation has been opened.

Although a drug dispute may be involved, it is not thought that the killing was motivated by a feud.

Two men in their late 30s are being held at Finglas and Blanchardstown Garda Stations where their period of detention is expected to extend into tomorrow.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
