New €20million state-of-the art BusConnects plaza opens at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre

The National Transport Authority today launched a new €20 million bus plaza facility at Liffey Valley Shopping Mall as part of the Bus Connects programme being implemented around the city.

The new bus plaza is located 100 feet from the front entrance of the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. The new centre links north Kildare, the city centre, and south and west Dublin.

The revamped Yellow Car Park area at Liffey Valley is where the new bus plaza is located. It has a canopy with six bus bays and a set-down space that is fully accessible.

In addition, the parking lot now has more spaces for disabled drivers, more spaces for parents and kids, new electric vehicle charging stations, street furniture, waiting areas for passengers, real-time information on the availability of parking spaces, real-time passenger journey signage, and new street lighting.

On Sunday, February 19, bus services to and from the plaza started.Minister of State Jack Chambers TD welcomed the opening of the new “state-of-the art” plaza at the shopping centre.

He said: “I am delighted to unveil this state-of-the-art bus plaza facility at Liffey Valley, a landmark project for the NTA’s BusConnects programme. It is envisaged that this bus plaza will increase connectivity between west Dublin and Kildare and to the city centre with the 75% hourly increase in buses.

“By investing €20m in this new bus plaza and by rolling out new services across the city, we can encourage more people to use public transport and reduce their reliance on the car to get to work, school or for shopping,” he added.
