Reissuance formalities of OCI cards made simpler by the Central Government of India

The re issuing of OCI cards made more simpler by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The decision was announced on Thursday in which no re issuing of OCI card is needed if the person attains it after 20 years of age. If the person had an OCI card before 20 years of age, he have to re issue it while he gets a new passport issued after 20 years.

The former rule demanded OCI card holders to re issue for a new OCI card everytime they apply for a new passport upto 20 years of age and re issue once on completing 50 years of age. No reissuance of OCI card is needed between 21 to 50 years of age. This was required because the face of an individual changes as the person grow up.

Records state that the Central Government has issued more than 37.72 lakh OCI cards till now to foreigners of Indian origin, foreign spouses of Indian nationals or foreign spouses of OCI card holders. OCI card is necessary to clear hassles to enter and stay in India with a lot of benefits which are not available for other foreigners.
