Amitabh Bachchan slashes paparazzi over fake news about Dharmendra, saying “no ethics left”

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has voiced his displeasure over the growing intrusion into Dharmendra and the Deol family’s privacy. 89-year-old actor Dharmendra is recovering at his home in Mumbai after a recent health scare, and a leaked video from his hospital room has caused widespread concern.

A day after Sunny Deol criticised the paparazzi for being “shameless,” Amitabh posted on X and his blog, indirectly condemning the behaviour. He said people today seem to have “no ethics left,” calling the situation “disturbing” and “disgusting.”

Amitabh and Dharmendra have worked together in several films, including the classic Sholay.

Amitabh Bachchan also took the issue to his blog and wrote, there is “no ethics” or “sense of responsibility” left, and calling the behaviour of some people “disturbing and disgusting.” Though he didn’t name anyone, social media users quickly linked his comments to the criticism aimed at paparazzi for invading Dharmendra’s family’s privacy.

Fans reacted strongly, agreeing with Amitabh. Some referenced past run-ins with paparazzi, while others directly pointed to the ongoing coverage of Dharmendra’s health, calling the behaviour “shameful” and driven solely by TRPs.

The backlash against intrusive photographers intensified after Sunny Deol lashed out at the paparazzi outside his home on Thursday, reprimanding them for filming his family during a difficult time. Following this, several Bollywood figures—including Karan Johar and Ameesha Patel—condemned the paparazzi and urged everyone to give the family space.

Last week, including some renowned media had spread fake news of Dharmendra’s death, while he was under treatment in the hospital. But Dharmendra was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, and his treatment will continue at home. Sunny’s team has requested privacy for the actor, who was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, set for release in December.
