Arson attack at Dublin apartment complex forces evacuation of dozens

An arson attack at a residential apartment block in Dublin has left dozens of residents temporarily homeless after a fire was deliberately set in an underground car park in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident occurred on Station Road in Hansfield, Dublin 15, prompting an immediate response from gardaí and emergency services who evacuated multiple buildings in the area as a precautionary measure.

While no injuries were reported, several vehicles parked in the underground garage were severely damaged by the blaze. The apartment building itself sustained significant smoke damage, with evidence of the aftermath clearly visible outside the structure throughout the morning.

Gardaí have cordoned off the area and conducted a comprehensive technical examination of the scene. The fire service successfully extinguished the flames, but not before causing substantial property damage.

“Gardaí attended the scene of a criminal damage by fire incident on Station Road, Hansfield, Dublin 15 in the early hours of this morning, Friday 6th June 2025,” a garda spokeswoman confirmed. “A number of buildings were evacuated as the local fire service extinguished the fire.”

The spokeswoman emphasized that despite the scale of the incident, “there were no reports of injuries,” though she confirmed that “a number of vehicles were damaged in the incident.”
