Cannabis grow-house with plants worth €528,000 discovered in Roscommon, two people arrested

A Cannabis grow house with plants worth approximately €528,000 was discovered in Co Roscommon.

Gardaí arrested two people in the process of the bust, which took place at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday.

A woman, aged in her 50s, and a man in his 60s were arrested at the scene.

As part of Operation Tara in Ballaghaderreen, garda from the Roscommon Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by garda from Castlerea searched a property under a warrant.

During the course of this search, a suspected cannabis grow house was discovered by gardaí.

Along with suspected cannabis plants worth an estimated €288,000 and about €240,000 in processed cannabis, both were seized.

The estimated value of all the drugs seized is €528,000, subject to Forensic Science Ireland’s analysis.

The man and woman are both being held in custody at the Castlerea Garda Station in accordance with Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A garda spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing.”
