Centra to create 400 jobs as sales hit record high of €1.98 billion

Irish convenience retailer Centra has announced a €25m investment in an expansion programme this year.

Record sales at Centra stores in 2021 will allow the group to open 18 new shops in Ireland, this will create at least 430 jobs.

Centra reported strong sales of €1.98bn, with 2.5 percent annual growth last year.

Sales of Centra’s Irish Mood ice cream jumped 52 percent last year, while its ‘freshly prepared’ food line saw a 40 percent increase.

Centra’s Managing Director Ian Allen said the retailer’s robust sales performance underscores its position as Ireland’s leading convenience retailer.
