Christmas at the Castle returns: Experience the magic of Christmas at Dublin Castle

The Office of Public Works is delighted to welcome visitors from near and far again this season to Christmas at the Castle, the unforgettable Christmas market at historic Dublin Castle, right in the heart of Ireland’s capital.

Soak up the wonderful Christmas atmosphere in this festively decorated setting from the 8th to the 21st December.

‘Christmas at the Castle’ is a European-style traditional Christmas market with wooden chalet market stalls selling decorative crafts, inspiring gifts ideas and delicious food. It offers musical entertainment and the added bonus of access to the beautifully decorated State Apartments of Dublin Castle and the Neapolitan Crib in the Chapel Royal.

The event will run from 14:00 to 21:30 daily with a minimum of two and a maximum of three sessions per day. This will be a FREE, ticketed event. Cashless transactions are preferred on site.

Set in the heart of Ireland’s capital city, ‘Christmas at the Castle’ will have something for everyone.Featuring a boutique open-air Christmas Market, with music from the Sea of Change Choir, Cantairí Oga Atha Cliath, Gloria Choir, Garda Ladies Choir and others among the festive acts.

Christmas at the Castle will see the return of over 20 craft stall holders to the Upper Castle Yard along with a range of food and drink providers. Evening music performances will be held in the Spiegel-style tent to create that cosy festive atmosphere. On two weekends, 10-11 and 17-18 December, the indoor Castle Hall craft market will once again take place, showcasing the very best of Irish design and craftsmanship for sale.

You can enjoy the holiday atmosphere and enjoy some imaginative cooking from the onsite food vendors or enjoy Christmas drinks from our onsite bar.

The historic courtyard of Dublin Castle will be filled with over 30 traditional alpine market stalls featuring an array of decorative crafts and inspiring gift ideas. Come and indulge in traditional fare sold by artisan producers and soak up the festive atmosphere. There will also be a vintage carousel on-site for children.

With over 1,000 years of history at Dublin Castle, soak up the history and explore the State Apartments decorated for Christmas and visit the beautiful Neapolitan Crib in the Chapel Royal.
