On Sunday evening, an elderly woman died in a house fire in Roscommon.
After neighbours raised the alarm soon after 9 p.m. last night, emergency and fire services responded to the scene in Ballaghderreen, Co Roscommon.
A lady in her 70s’ body was discovered in the residence and pronounced dead. It is believed that she was living alone.
Gardai are now investigating the fatal fire.
Her body has since been removed to Roscommon Mortuary.
The coroner has been notified and a postmortem is scheduled to take place.
Gardaí confirmed that the scene of the blaze is currently preserved for a technical examination while investigations are ongoing.
