First meeting of British Irish Intergovernmental conference will be held in June

The first British Irish Intergovernmental conference in a gap of two years will take place in June. In a joint statement by Foreign Affairs minister Simon Coveney and Northern Ireland secretary of State Brandon Lewis, they reaffirmed to uphold the Good Friday agreement. Through the statement they announced to “work together in close partnership to protect and uphold all aspects of Belfast/Good Friday agreement in all circumstances.”

The meeting will also consider matters of mutual interest within the competence of both governments. There are many many issues which should be concerned in Northern Ireland and the best way settle everything is through discussion and engagement.
