China reports new outbreak of Covid-19 infection among a group of tourists and started mass testing on Thursday. The outbreak is spreading to many provinces with close contacts and the authorities have cancelled hundreds of flights and closed a number of schools in a measure to prevent it.

The new outbreaks are mostly reported in northern and northwest areas and new cases have been reported consecutively for a fifth day. The capital city of Beijing was free from outbreaks as the tight restrictions is in place since a number of months. But new cases are being reported in there too.

According to the reports, the new outbreak is linked with a tourist group where two elderly couple in the group tested positive for Covid. They started in Shanghai before flying to Xi’an, Gansu province and Inner Mongolia.

Later on, dozens of cases have been detected in connection with the tourist group at least in five provinces including Beijing.
