FSAI recall of specific batches of Ekoplaza Kokosolie Organic Coconut Oil Due to the elevated level of Glycidyl Esters

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have recalled of specific batches of Ekoplaza Kokosolie Geurloos organic coconut oil due to the elevated level of glycidyl esters. The product is manufactured in the Netherlands, available in 500ml and 2litter packets in the market.

Glycidyl fatty acid esters are food contaminants generated during the processing of edible oils and fats.

Glycidyl fatty acid esters are converted to glycidol after consumption. Although the consumption of the contaminated product does not pose an acute risk to health, there may be health issues if there is the continued consumption of glycidyl esters over a long period of time.
