Further 16,986 cases in Ireland today; Vaccine registration opened for 5-11 age cohort

Further 16,986 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland today. As of 8 a.m. today, there were 804 people in hospitals due to the virus infection and 93 of them are in ICUs.

It was 17,071 Covid cases confirmed yesterday.

The hospitalisations have been increased significantly within a day where 717 people were getting hospital treatment a day before.

Meanwhile booking have been opened for all children aged 5-11 for Covid vaccines from today. Parents can register for their children using a Personal Public Service (PPS) number, Eircode, a mobile phone number and an email address.

Alternatively, parents can call HSELive on 1800 700 700 to register their child over the phone.

Children will be given two lower doses of Pfizer vaccine within three weeks apart.
