Garda turned down the Child Rescue alert as the kidnapped girl was found safe at Belfast

Svetlana Murphy who was missing had been safely found by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from Belfast. An 18 year old boy was arrested by the PSNI and is currently with the team in enquiries. Garda cancelled their CRI alert and all tweets on CRI had been removed from the site.

Her missing was reported on Tuesday from her home in Louth County. The investigations proved that the girl was in the custody of an 18 year boy,Nojus Maculevicius. The CRI is issued by the Garda if they think that the kidnapped is under serious threat.

The CRI alert should be issued under strict criteria and Garda took a decision to protect the privacy of the family. Garda have thanked the public, certain agencies and media in providing assistance during the alert.
