All flights between Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Knock, and London Heathrow have been cancelled today, impacting thousands of Irish passengers.

The disruption follows a fire at a nearby electrical substation, which has led to the closure of Heathrow Airport and affected more than 1,300 flights.
A transformer fire at the North Hyde electrical substation in west London also left thousands of homes without power and forced the evacuation of over 100 people.
Flight tracking service FlightRadar24 reported that at least 1,351 flights to and from Heathrow are affected, with 120 flights already in the air when the closure was announced.
Heathrow, the UK’s busiest airport, handled over 83.9 million passengers in 2024.
Ryanair has launched ‘rescue’ flights, adding up to eight extra flights between Dublin and London Stansted—four today and four tomorrow—to assist stranded travelers.
