Incredible footage shows fearless firefighters rescuing man from Dublin high rise fire

This is the moment brave firefighters rescued a man trapped on a balcony during a high rise fire in Tallaght.

The shocking incident saw residents of Glashaus Hotel at Belgard Square evacuated after a blaze broke out in one of the apartments.

This incredible drone footage shared by Dublin Fire Brigade shows the crew using a turntable ladder to reach one of the upper floors of the building.

Resident Victor Macaraig previously spoke to Dublin Live of his terror after he, his pregnant wife Almarie, and his friend Kristian were trapped in their apartment on the fifth floor of the building.

All three of them were home when the fire alarm went off twice and they spotted white smoke rising up from their windows.

The trio found themselves trapped on the balcony after they realised the corridor to the fire exit was filled with thick, black smoke.

Victor was terrified for Almarie, who was 14 weeks pregnant, and Kristian, who suffers from asthma.

He added: “We were all covered in soot. Kristian had his phone flashlight on and it couldn’t even penetrate the smoke.

“We saw a lot of people had already evacuated.

“Kristian and I started dialling 999.

“People kept telling us to go out the fire exit but we kept telling them we couldn’t because it was blocked. We were suffocating and the smoke was starting to creep into our apartment.

“We would keep looking back into our apartment and we could see it was just pitch black.”
