Indian community organisation Kranthi Ireland organised local shopping

Kranthi Ireland launched a local Shopping campaign with the slogan “Shop Local Help Own Lives”.

Kranthi Ireland, the cultural, and social organisation of people of the Indian diaspora in Ireland, aims to provide a forum where members get to blend with the progressive values of Ireland and its unique tradition and culture of theirs.

As we all are well aware Local retailers and shops around us are facing massive challenges caused by many factors listing from the pandemic to inflation.

The campaign launched today aims to strengthen the values and to coach consumers on the effect of local shopping on their community.

Kranthi wants its members to be ambassadors who encourage the people around to focus on ways to support the communities and businesses embedded in them.

Kranthi units across Ireland launched the local shopping campaign in which more than 100 Kranthi activists across various regions participated, responding to the threat of local shop closure, they bought goods from various local shops and declared solidarity with the local shops.

The Local Shopping Campaign jointly run by Dublin North Unit and South Unit was launched by Workers Party Leader Seamus McDonagh.

Kranthi Central Committee member Varghese Joy welcomed and Ajay C Shaji delivered the vote of thanks at the function held at Justin’s, a local shop in Blanchardstown.

Gerry Rooney, Ex-General Secretary at Permanent Defense Force Other Ranks Representative Association leader also conveyed his greetings at the event.

A number of Kranthi members participated in the event under the leadership of Dublin South Unit Secretary Shijimon.

Callan-Thomastown Councilor Joe Lyons officiated at the launch of the Kranthi Kilkenny Unit’s local shopping campaign.

He talked about the importance of shopping locally and the rising cost of living. Kilkenny Unit Secretary Anil Joseph Ramapuram welcomed the event.

Benny Anthony thanked everyone who participated in the event.

Communist Party leader and social activist Iyad Machel inaugurated the local shopping campaign at the Kranti Letterkenny unit. “If you buy from small shops, the money you spend goes back into the community and reduces economic stress,” said Iyad Machel.

The local shopping campaign at Kranti Waterford Unit was inaugurated by Kranthi National Join Secretary Anoop John.

Kranthi Waterford Unit Secretary KS Naveen welcomed the event at Dunphy Family Butchers in Lisdagan Shopping Centre.

Kranthi Cork Unit’s Local Shopping Campaign was inaugurated by Kranthi Central Committee Member Melba Mary Whitson and Kranthi Drogheda Unit’s Local Shopping Campaign was inaugurated by Kranthi Central Committee Member Ratheesh Suresh.
