India’s Bihu dance creates history, enters Guinness Book of World Records

India’s Northeastern state Assam made history when their traditional dance – Bihu – was performed by more than 11,000 performers at a single venue.
This accomplishment on Thursday engraved Bihu’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records. At Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium, the event was held.
According to reports, 11,304 performers including singers participated in the event. Over 2K drummers were also among the performers. They used traditional Assamese instruments such as the Dhol, Taal, Gogona, Toka, Pepa, and Xutuli, among others.

11,304 artists, including singers, reportedly took part in the performance. Additional performances included around 2,000 drummers. These included the Dhol, Taal, Gogona, Toka, Pepa, and Xutuli, among other indigenous Assamese instruments.

The largest Bihu dance in a single location was performed in front of Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, in this performance.
Practise sessions were arranged all across the state to bring in the top performers and with the goal of promoting Assam’s traditional heritage globally in order to make this event a tremendous success.
All the participants,including the master trainers and dancers, will be receiving a grant of INR 25,000 for participating in the historic event.
