Ireland ‘heave a sigh of relief’ as Government plans to lift restrictions slowly. Know more about how the unlocking process will proceed

After more than 100 days of lockdown, the Irish Government had decided to ease thr restrictions from midnight. The level 5 restrictions will be relaxed as the vaccine rollout gained pace thus reduced the risk of further spread of the virus.

The relaxations on the restrictions will be:

Monday April 12

Domestic travel: The five kilometre travel limit will be lifted and people could travel within their county or within 20 kilometres of the travel crosses a county boundary.

Gatherings: People are allowed to meet outdoors but not in private gardens for social get togethers.

School: All students will return to their schools after their Easter break.

Construction: It will resume partially as 5000 home building workers will return and recommence their work.

April 19

Sports: GAA senior county training will resume but no minor competitions should be conducted.

April 26

Business: Outdoor attractions will be reopened like heritage sites, zoos etc. Amusement parks are not permitted to open and indoor areas like hotels will remain closed. Takeaway services will be available.

Sports: Open grounds like golf courses, pitches and tennis courts will be opened but no team sport is permitted. Maximum of two people can engage in a game. Non contact outdoor training for underage people will start outdoors including dance.

Gatherings: 10 to 25 people can attend funerals

May 4

Retail: Non Essential commodities will be sold by a click and collect method and outdoor retail such a garden centres will be opened

Personal: Salons and hairdressers will reopen slowly

Gatherings: Religious practice could be followed publicly.

Attractions: Libraries, Galleries and Museums can be opened to all

Construction: All constructions will resume in fu swing.

From Summer

The ease on restrictions after summer will depend upon the Covid situations and vaccine rollout progression.
