Ireland permits non-Europeans to travel with expired residence permits due to processing delays until Jan 31

The government of Ireland will permit all non-nationals holding expired residence permits (IRPs) with pending renewal permissions to travel to the country with expired permissions.

These measures will allow eligible non-nationals to continue to travel to Ireland until 31 January 2023 with expired permissions, so long as proof of renewal can be demonstrated through an OREG number. Travelers should also print the Travel Confirmation Notice prior to arrival.

It has been confirmed that this rule applies to all nationals from countries outside the European Economic Area who made a request for the renewal of their residence permits before their expiry date of residence permits.

Further details on these arrangements can be found on the Department of Justice’s Irish Immigration website (www.irishimmigration.ie).
