Ireland’s unemployment rate edges up to 4% in March

Ireland’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4 per cent in March, up from a record low of 3.9 per cent a month earlier, new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) indicated.

February’s jobless rate had matched the previous record low seen between October 2000 and April 2001, during the early ‘Celtic Tiger’ boom.

The unemployment rate for men remained steady at 3.9 per cent, down from 4.2 per cent in March 2024.

The jobless rate for women increased slightly to 4.1 per cent, up from 4 per cent in February, but lower than 4.3% in March 2024.

Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate stood at 11.6 per cent, unchanged from the previous month.
