Irish Rail has confirmed that its much touted onboard catering service wont be returning along with the major easing in restrictions coming on October 22.
As per the guidelines issued by the Government in relation to the upcoming relaxing of measures, passengers are required to wear masks for the entire duration of their trip.
People will only be able to remove their masks on board if they need to take medication.
While many Covid-19 restrictions are being removed on October 22, it will remain mandatory for customers to wear face coverings on public transport.
The Government regulation covering this does not provide for face coverings to be removed for eating and drinking on public transport, with an exception for medication.
As a result, catering on board will remain suspended until further notice, in line with this regulation.
So, despite a vast return to normal life, customers won’t be able to grab eatables on board for some time.
Since Friday, October 22, the social distancing norms will also be relaxed as the rule of wearing masks outdoors and in indoor private settings.
The limit on the number of people allowed to attend indoor and outdoor events and activities will be relaxed as well as the restrictions on religious or civil ceremonies.
The number of people allowed to meet in private homes and gardens will also be unlimited as the remaining restrictions ease.
