Dublin City Council is set to commence a €2.5 million renovation project on Talbot Street starting June 10. The project, expected to be completed in 20 weeks, aims to address various challenges faced by the area, which is home to key historic institutions and transport facilities like Connolly Station and Busáras.
The renovation will involve upgrading the footpath and part of the roadway, installing new street lights, planting more greenery, and enhancing landscaping. Additionally, shop fronts will be improved, and there will be an events programme and street art to enliven the area.
During the renovation, there will be restrictions on vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The project is part of the council’s five-year plan to improve several streets across the city. Other areas set for upgrades under this scheme include Cathal Brugha Street, North Earl Street, Parnell Square, the Markets area, and Halston Street Park.
A council spokeswoman emphasized that the improvements aim to revitalize Talbot Street and address the challenges it has faced over the years, making it a more pleasant and functional space for residents and visitors alike.4o
