Man and woman arrested as part of operation targeting high volume theft

A garda operation targeting high-volume theft crime and other offences resulted in the arrest of a man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s in Dublin.

They were captured by gardai as part of Operation Thor Winter Phase on Wednesday. Units from the Dublin Metropolitan Region, Eastern Region, and North Western Region provided assistance to the National Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau’s garda.

Targeting organised crime, the operation began in October of this year.

In accordance with the guidelines of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act of 2007, the man and woman were each detained at the Naas Garda Station.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Cleary, Organised and Serious Crime said: “Operation Thor which was launched in October 2022 continues to target organised crime gangs and repeat offenders through co-ordinated crime prevention and enforcement activity based on intelligence and crime trends. This Operation is focused on reducing harm to the community through the co-ordination of Garda resources”.
