Man arrested for driving at 201 km/h during Storm Barra warning

A man has been arrested for driving his car at a speed of 201 km/h during Storm Barra warning in place. The incident happened at M9 in Kilkenny on Wednesday.

The Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checks on the M9 in Kilkenny when they detected this driver speeding at 201 km/h. The maximum speed limit on the road here is 120 km/h.

The driver was arrested subsequently and charged with dangerous driving. He will be appearing in the District Court in the coming weeks.

The man was driving dangerously while a slow driving warning was in place as heavy wind and rain were making road slippery and causing low visibility.
