Man dies following collision between articulated truck and car in Co Limerick

A man has died in a road collision between an articulated truck and a car in Co Limerick. Another man has been hospitalised.

The incident happened at around 2.50 am at Killeheen, Rathkeale.

The driver of the truck, a man in his early 30s, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle died in the collision.

His body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will take place.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his early 50s was injured during the collision and was taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed, local diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators are due to examine the scene.

Gardaí in Newcastle West are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including a dash-cam, are asked to make it available to gardaí.
