Meet the first Indian solicitor of Ireland Jaya Jayadev

Jaya Jayadev, hailing from the Southern Indian state of Kerala, is the first ever Indian solicitor to be qualified in Ireland. She has joined as a solicitor in Louis Kennedy Solicitors, the only Indian Law Firm in Ireland. She will be available for legal consultancy to everyone in the country, especially to Indians.Jaya graduated from Mahatma Gandhi University and was admitted to the roll of Advocates, Kerala Bar Council in 1991. She then completed her post graduation in commercial law from Bangalore University in 1998. She moved to Ireland with her husband in 2001. Here, she started her career as legal executive and then qualified as a solicitor in UK through the Qualifying Lawyers Transfer Test programme. In 2009, she took up the lawyers transfer test in Ireland and became a qualified solicitor in Ireland, the first ever Indian to do so. To become a solicitor is not an easy task and for a legal stalwart like Jaya , it took years of grit and determination to qualify the exam and to make a stamp in the Irish legal system.
