Migrant Nurses Ireland (MNI) met up with the Minister Of State at the Department of Defence and Government Chief Whip, Jack Chambers to discuss the situation of migrant health workers.

Migrant Nurses Ireland is a migrant-friendly platform for migrant nurses in Ireland, acting as a liaison between migrant nurses and INMO (Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation).
MNI is actually a group of people working in various fields of healthcare, who have come together with a single aim. Which is to work for migrants who need help and to make sure these people who have come from different countries to Ireland, won’t go through any difficult situation alone.
Meeting With Jack Chambers
The representatives of MNI, Varghese Joy, Rajimol Manoj, and Vinu Kaippilly had a heartfelt discussion with Jack Chambers regarding various issues faced by migrant health workers. Visa processing times, accommodation, and health care assistant positions were some of the many topics that were discussed.
Jack Chambers, who was the previous Minister Of State at the Department of Finance is at present, the TD (Teachta Dala) for the Dublin West constituency.
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of workers in the health care sector, with the majority being recruited from other countries. On eve of this increase, the issues faced by these migrant workers have also increased.
Going Forward
Jack Chambers, who is also the Minister Of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Sport since July 2020, has promised to forward these issues to his colleagues and discuss pressing matters of the hardships faced by newly arriving people to work in the health sector.
MNI leaders are happy that Jack Chambers has also assured to discuss these issues as well as the idea of bringing changes in visa decisions regarding dependents of senior HCA, at the ministerial level. This is in accordance with having more opportunities for them to find jobs in Ireland.
