Much improvement in Covid prevention, says Nphet; State confirms 1,124 new cases

Department of Health confirmed 1,124 new cases of the virus in Ireland today.

As of 8 am today, there were 349 people with Covid in hospital and 65 of them were in ICU.

Meanwhile National Public Health Emergency Team’s (Nphet) Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group chairman Prof. Philip Nolan has indicated improvement in Covid prevention as the vaccines take effect.

“The risks [from Covid] are very reduced because of vaccination,” he said.

“If we keep this up we can go about things that are important to us, but do it carefully. We are going to be seeing cases for many months to come.” Prof. Nolan added.
