Paris 2024 Olympics: India maintain unbeaten run with 2-0 win over Ireland in men’s hockey

The Indian men’s hockey team continued its unbeaten run as they defeated Ireland 2-0 in their third Pool B match at the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Stade Yvesdu-Manoir on Tuesday.

India captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace with two first-half goals. The 28-year-old has been in rich vein of form, scoring a total of four goals so far in the prestigious tournament.

While India displayed dominant performance in the first two quarters, Ireland showed signs of comeback in the third quarter. However, the Sean Murray-led side couldn’t breach the defences of veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh to cut down the deficit.

With two wins and a draw, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallists are currently leading Pool B with seven points. India will take on Belgium in their next game.

Ireland, sitting at the bottom of the table, will play against Argentina in their next game on Thursday.
