Pedestrian in her 50s died in road collision in Co Laois

A woman in her 50s has died in a road traffic collision in Stradbally, Co Laois.

She died when she and another pedestrian were hit by a car in the Dunamase area outside Stradbally.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.10 pm on Friday.

Her body has since been transported to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise, where a post-mortem will be performed at a later date.

The other pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was taken to Tullamore’s Midland Regional Hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of the car involved in this collision were uninjured.

The road is currently closed and Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting an examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
