Ryanair has announced the restoration of services from Cork Airport as they reopen their base which stays closed since last October. €200 million will be invested for the reopening process and the services kick start from December. It will also create 60 jobs, the company added.
The airport is now closed for a major rebuild project and will reopen on 22nd November.
Following the reopening of two-aircraft base, 20 routes across the UK and Europe will recommence, Ryanair announced today morning at the airport.
Among the routes, new services to Birmingham and Edinburgh have been added. Earlier Stobart Air used to run the services to these destinations.
The recommence of routes will include services to Alicante, Bermingham, Edinburgh, Gdańsk, Lanzarote, Liverpool, London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted, Malaga, Poznan, and Tenerife for this winter.
Meanwhile for summer in 2022, the flights carry passengers to destinations including Alicante, Bermingham, Bordeaux, Carcassonne, Edinburgh, Faro, Gdańsk Girona, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Liverpool, London Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Malaga, Mallorca, Milan Bergamo, Poznan, Reus and Tenerife.
Ryanair had a fruitful business in the pre-pandemic days in Cork where they had services to 24 routes and carried almost 1.14 million passengers. Their operations were collaborated with Aer Lingus.
Later the business became dull following the pandemic and the airport was shut down for a major rebuilding.
