Serial rapist David Hegarty found roaming in Griffeen Valley Park, St Catherine’s in Lucan

Serial rapist David Hegarty has been found roaming around Dublin parks in recent weeks, reports the Irish Mirror.

David Hegarty, who had been jailed twice for raping three women was released from prison two years ago. He is living in Dublin after the court order not to go back to his native place in Cork.

The predator raped two women on 5th and 27th of October 1998 and had been convicted and sent to a 10-year prison sentence in 2000. But he was released early and again sexually attacked a nurse in May 2008. After the arrest and trial, the court sentenced him for 13 years in 2009.

The judge wanted to give this dangerous person a life sentence but his plea to appeal court reduced the sentence. He was released two years ago and living homeless in Dublin following the restraining order.

He has been spotted in Greenfield and St Catherine’s parks in recent weeks with an unrecognizable look. The father of one has reduced body weight and cut his hair which make him look like a different person, the report says.

“St Catherine’s Park in particular is a very safe park and no trouble ever occurs, but since Hegarty was spotted there a lot of local women just won’t go near it. Teenage girls have also been warned to be vigilant by their parents if out and about in the local area.” the report concludes.
