SFC Products Recalled On The Grounds Of Increased Salmonella Content

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland had found that various chicken products made by the SFC are contaminated by the presence of Salmonella. The contaminated foods have been recalled and notices were issued to make awareness among the people on the issue.

SFC Take Home Boneless Bucket : 650g
SFC Southern Fried Chicken Strips:155g
SFC Southern Fried Chicken Burgers: 228g
SFC Chicken Poppets: 190g

These are the foods which were contaminated and all these foods were best according to the expiry dates. Products after this best before date are not affected. The business put additional food safety controls in place in November 2020 to improve the safety of their products. They have now taken the precautionary step of recalling all products manufactured before the new and additional controls were put in place. Little Hill Farm Chicken Breast Fillets, a new product have also added to the recall list.

Salmonella can be hazardous as it develops symptoms between 12-36 hours after infection. The main symptoms which could be seen commonly in these cases are diarrhoea, fever, abdominal cramps and headache. Severe diarrhoea can be very serious and proper hospital treatment is needed. The illness lasts for a week and special care should be given to children and old aged as their immunity is comparatively low to adults.

The consumers are urged to show more carefulness and asked to avoid eating these products. Sale of these products are also asked to stop.
