Rail passengers face another day of travel chaos as Iarnród Éireann grapples with recurring signalling issues affecting DART and Northern Commuter services.
After briefly resolving technical problems earlier in the evening, the signalling system has once again malfunctioned, leading to substantial delays across Dublin’s rail network. Commuters are experiencing wait times of up to 103 minutes on DART services and up to 87 minutes on Northern Commuter routes.
According to The Journal, during the initial service suspension, Dublin Bus offered a lifeline to stranded passengers by accepting valid rail tickets, providing an alternative transportation option.
Iarnród Éireann has not yet provided detailed information about the cause of the repeated signalling disruptions or when full service might be restored. Passengers are advised to check the company’s official updates and allow significant extra time for their journeys.
The ongoing technical issues underscore the fragility of Dublin’s rail infrastructure and the potential for widespread travel disruption when critical signalling systems malfunction.
