Students and Teachers not Permitted to Wear Masks in Leaving Cert Oral Exams

Students and teachers told not to wear masks during leaving certificate orals. This has been told in order to enhance the effectiveness of communication. The State Examinations Commission issued that perspex sheet should be installed between the students and teachers. Oral exams will happen between March 26 and April 15 at schools.

Normally an external examiner will be the main invigilator who is appointed by the SEC, but this year, due to Covid 19 pandemic, teachers of respective schools will carryout the examination and the record will be sent to the SEC on the risk of schools.

The schools should make sure that rooms should be adequately ventilated and no external noise should disturb the students. A distance of 2 metres should be maintained between students and teachers and students are permitted to use their own pens if needed. Even though students share anything, it should be properly sanitized.

SEC affirms that the quality of exams are the responsibility of the schools. The recordings of the interview should be clear and backups of all records should be properly saved. If the quality of the recordings of any student is below standard, the SEC examiner will not approve it and no marks will be given for the oral component.
