Two Closure Orders issued on Food Business under FSAI Act, EU Regulations and HSE

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland had reported two closure orders on food businesses in April for breaching food and safety rules under FSAI act 1998 and EU regulations 2020. The orders were issued by the FSAI officers and officers of HSE.

The Closure order under FSAI Act was on Millfield Service Station, Old Mallow Road, Cork and the closure order under EU regulations was on unregistered food businesses at 2 Brownsbarn Wood, Kingswood Cross, Dublin 22. The HSE had taken a prosecution on the Spoonful Food Company Ltd., Carrickanane, Tullyallen, Co. Louth.

The main reasons for closure orders were the detection of rodent droppings in storage units and shelves in the shop counter and floor. No safe food management procedures were followed and lack of information on allergens were displayed and operation of food business were not registered or approved.
