Two men arrested in Dublin following attempted robbery with gun and pickaxe

Two men have been arrested following an armed robbery in Dublin 13 on Friday. The incident took place shortly after 5 pm where two men armed with a handgun, pickaxe and hammer entered a store in Baldoyle.

As they carried arms, the alarm was raised and Garda from units from Raheny and Clontarf stations along with the Garda ASU (Armed Support Unit) rushed to the scene.

The robbers were also trying to enter a nearby post office with the weapons and the ASU members were able to overpower the intruders without firing any shots and followed by their arrest. The weapons have also been seized.

Both the robbers in their 30s are currently being questioned at Clontarf and Raheny garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.
