The Waterford Malayali Association’s annual Christmas and New Year celebration takes place today (Saturday) at Mullinahone Community Centre, beginning at 3:30 pm. The event promises a festive evening featuring more than 30 cultural programs celebrating the expatriate community’s heritage.

The celebration will showcase a variety of dance and music performances by association members and children, highlighting the cultural traditions of the Malayali community in Waterford. This year’s program includes a special DJ music party led by prominent Irish figures, designed to engage and excite the younger generation while maintaining connections to their cultural roots.
A sumptuous Christmas dinner prepared by the well-known Irish catering service Mookens Catering will be served as part of the festivities, providing attendees with a festive meal to complement the cultural performances.
WMA office bearers have extended a warm invitation to all Malayali families in Waterford to attend the celebration. The program will run from 3:30 pm until 10:00 pm, offering an afternoon and evening of community fellowship, cultural expression, and holiday celebration.
The event represents one of the highlights of the community calendar, bringing together families to celebrate both Christmas and the new year while strengthening social bonds and preserving cultural traditions in their adopted home of Waterford.
