A two-vehicle collision that occurred last night near Baltinglass, County Wicklow, claimed the life of a woman in her 60s.
Just before midnight, there was an accident on the N81 near Mullycagh Lower.
One of the vehicles’ driver, a woman, was discovered dead on the scene.
Her body has been transported to Naas General Hospital’s mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be performed.
A man in his 30s who was driving the other car was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
There are currently local detours in place while the road is closed for a forensic investigation.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the collision, or any road users who were in the area between 11.30pm and midnight and may have camera footage, to contact Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 6482610.
