A couple in their 20s were attacked early this morning at their house in the Innishmore housing estate in Ballincollig, County Cork.
Following the incident, which happened Tuesday morning just before 1 am, the man and woman were transferred to Cork University Hospital.
When a group of men arrived at the house, they attacked the married couple there. After raising the alarm, gardai and paramedics showed up on the site.
The man and woman were taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. It is understood they incurred cut type injuries in the assault.
The Gardaí are investigating the incident. The area where the attack occurred was sealed off for a forensic examination.
Gardaí are also carrying door-to-door enquiries as they continue their probe into the matter. There is no known motive for the attack.
