Ireland is bracing itself for a drastic shift in weather conditions today, as a recent short-lived heatwave gives way to heavy rain. Met Eireann, the national meteorological service, issued weather warnings for 13 counties across the country on September 15th. The deluge comes with the looming threat of localized flooding in some areas.
An “orange” rain warning has been specifically issued for Cork and Waterford, in effect until 6 p.m. The heavy downpours expected in these regions are set to create treacherous road conditions, with large puddles forming, posing a significant hazard to drivers.
The following counties have been placed under a “yellow” warning: Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow, Kerry, Limerick, and Tipperary. Motorists in these regions are also urged to exercise caution as the persistent rain is expected to make road travel difficult throughout the day.
Met Eireann predicts daytime temperatures of 12-15 degrees Celsius, with a sharp drop to 8-10 degrees at night. Residents and travelers are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety in these challenging weather conditions.
