The Irish government had decided to resume vaccination for vulnerable people aged under 60 using an alternative vaccine to AstraZeneca. Tanaiste Leo Varadkar had said that the vaccine rollout is still on track.
The HSE had cancelled appointments for vaccination as per the advice by National Immunisation Advisory Committee. The EMA said that they expects to issue a recommendation on single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine next week.
The government plans to make efforts to fasten the vaccine rollout and that will fasten the procedures to lift the restrictions during summer. The Johnson and Johnson company had delayed the delivery of the vaccines to Europe and the uncertainty remains on the role of the single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The availability of 550,000 Pfizer vaccines keeps the vaccination process moving fast. This will make up the uncertainties caused by the delayed delivery of Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
