HSE had planned to open a new online booking platform which could help people to register their covid test even though they reside in a county where the Covid rates are high. This initiative will help to control further transmission of the virus.
People can have their test without referrals from the doctor and these self referrals will be approved by public health doctors which will be based on the incidence rates in the respective areas.
The online booking portal will be opened initially at certain parts of Dublin. It will encourage the youth as the cases have decreased because older cohorts are already vaccinated. Walk in test centres will continue to operate while two additional centres are to be added in Donegal soon.
