Childline’s latest report shows a deeply worrying trend, with 14 children a week seeking help for sexual abuse. The organisation says around 300 children a year contact them about serious cases involving rape, incest, and being forced to perform or witness sexual acts.

More than 100 children reached out specifically about incest, while 260 sought support due to violence in their homes. Childline says these numbers highlight the urgent need for stronger protection and support for vulnerable young people.
Childline says 40% of children reporting sexual abuse have been groomed, and many more are likely affected by grooming than the data shows.
